Experience
TLCC, Inc
Owner
1993-Present

As a self-employed computer consultant, I have concentrated on Oracle database software and have worked in that environment for over 16 years. I have established a partnership with Oracle and have been a preferred vendor and contract instructor for them for over 15 years. My project highlights include teaching over 400 classes in Oracle database administration, backup and recovery procedures, performance optimization, application tuning, application server, network administration, and enterprise management software for Oracle Corporation both in the US, Europe, and Far East. Most recently, I have also established relationships with several other Oracle Partners and have been doing training for them on an as needed basis.

Additional project highlights include:

  • Completed a project where I created customized RAC training for a university and assisted in upgrading a 10g RAC installation.
  • Completed a project at a government agency installing and configuring enterprise management software to pinpoint and correct inefficiencies in production applications and databases.  Here, my responsibilities included installing OEM, Management Servers, and the Intelligent Agent in a three-tier architecture as well as creating the repository and automatically discovering services on all nodes.  In addition, I evaluated the production databases and applications for improvements and trained the on-site database administrators in the use of these tools.
  • Procured and installed computer equipment including related software and network equipment for accounting firms, consulting groups, and marketing firms in the greater Boston area.
  • Completed technical reviews for Kaplan on OCP exam questions.
  • Performed technical review for Prentice-Hall on Oracle OCP book.

NEC Technologies, Inc
Applications Development Manager
1987-1993

My main responsibility was successfully managing several programming groups in the finance, marketing, and customer service and support areas.  We were migrating from legacy mainframe and minicomputer applications to client/server technology, showcasing our hardware technology with Oracle as the database, and without constraining the business. Among the projects my team completed were upgrades to General Ledger and Accounts Payable software, installation of Accounts Receivable system including special customized software changes for credit processing due to Japanese business practices, designing and developing a Leads Processing system, a 1099 Tax System and an Inventory Control System for Spare Parts, maintaining and finally outsourcing both the Advertising Cooperative and Special Marketing systems. I was responsible for hiring my staff, developing training and career plans, and doing performance reviews semi-annually. I was also responsible for hiring and managing contract personnel on an as needed basis. Among my other accomplishments, I created user work group to focus and prioritize new business projects. My team implemented several projects relating to mergers and downsizing within stringent time periods. We established operating standards and benchmarks for the department as well as the user community.

Wang Laboratories, Inc
Principal Information Systems Analyst
1984-1987
My major responsibility was to analyze new business requirements, prioritize them in conjunction with the user community, and write technical specifications for the programming teams. In addition, I became involved and eventually led the team to produce MIS Strategic Business plans for the Supplies Division. My major projects included developing specifications for and participating in the annual wall-to- wall physical inventory, training users on 3GL reporting tools, integrating serialized equipment as part of the new product line, and the ability to order and manage both software and maintenance agreements as part of the everyday business. As a part of the MIS/User team, we were able to integrate all the serialized equipment, software and maintenance agreements within thirty days. The Supplies Division, which had been a money loser, became a very profitable business with monthly revenues of $400,000 per employee.

Keane, Inc
Account Representative
1978-1984
I worked either on solo projects or as part of a team writing software for several of Keane's clients. Among the projects were as follows: Wrote software enhancements to an Order Processing system for a food retailer; coded legally required enhancements for a payroll and job costing systems for a Boston engineering firm; designed a forecasting system and managed a project team which wrote specifications, coded, tested, and implemented that aforementioned forecasting system for a high tech firm; analyzed, performed troubleshooting, and managed small project teams for the previously mentioned high-tech firm for three years. These systems were implemented to either reduce paperwork, improve costs, or to comply with government regulations.
